From the iconic sights of the Hollywood sign clinging to the hillside, the handprints of the stars in the pavement outside the Chinese Theatre, to the thrills of the Disneyland and Universal theme parks, to whale and pelican spotting on Pacific Coast beaches, this one city has so many experiences to share.
View of the City
Get a glimpse of the city sprawl by heading up Mount Hollywood to the iconic domed rooftops of the Griffith Observatory, made famous by James Dean in Rebel without a Cause. Here in Griffith Park, numerous hiking trails crisscross the verdant hillsides and dusty canyons between the observatory, the Hollywood sign, and the Los Angeles Zoo and Autry Museum of the American West – a great green space in the heart of the city.
City of Angels
To the west lie the high-end boutiques and restaurants of Rodeo Drive and Beverley Hills, and the celebrated Getty Museum. Downtown, don’t miss a visit to the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA, Grand Central Market or the Walt Disney Theatre. Or head to the coast to explore Malibu, Santa Monica, Venice Beach, Marina Del Rey and, to the south, the beaches of Orange County.
Theme Park Adventure
Disneyland is just over an hour’s drive from downtown LA in Anaheim. The thrilling mix of rides, character-filled fun, shows and festivities is great for families – but everyone can enjoy a day out here. Universal Studios Hollywood is even closer, in the north-west corner of Griffith Park. If you’re travelling in Autumn, its Halloween Horror Nights are a sure-fire thrill – but not for the faint of heart!
